Memorial Day Weekend

Since we haven't had the opportunity to go to Houston since Labor Day, Chris and I decided we would head down Memorial Day to spend the weekend with Chris's family. The weekend was filled with good food and fun times with family. On Saturday we enjoyed a few hours swimming at the pool and on Sunday after Church we headed down to Kemah... a family favorite. Chris and I love to spend time with our sweet niece and nephew. Here are a few pics from the weekend.

Where Did May Go!

Wow! Did a whole month really just pass by?

Well, the month of May started off with a visit from Nana. At 81 years old she is still making the flight from Australia all by herself. I just love seeing her! She came to help Mom as she had back surgery in early May and would basically be unable to do anything for herself for a few weeks. She has since recovered nicely. Chris and I enjoyed the time we got to spend with Nana while she was here; especially Mother's Day! Here are a few pics from the family's time at our house.

April Birthdays

Chris and his Papaw both celebrate their birthday's in April. On most years we get to celebrate both birthdays together which is becoming more and more special. This year we celebrated over Easter weekend. Chris's parents came into town and we enjoyed spending time with them.

On Saturday night, we enjoyed an amazing Easter service at church and then had a small family celebration with Jane and Rand at Salt Grass.

On Sunday, we ate lunch at with Chris's Aunt and Uncle's home. We enjoyed at fabulous meal and then celebrated Chris and Papaw's birthday...

...with cake and ice cream!

Beavers Bend 2009

During the last weekend of March we made our annual trip to Beavers Bend, OK for our "camping" trip. This was the 5th year that we have made the trip with our friends from church. Our group has grown and we have really enjoyed watching all the family dynamics change. This year we didn't get to drive up until Friday afternoon so the trip was cut a little short, but we were determined not to miss it. Thanks to the cold weather we enjoyed an entire weekend of relaxation. While we missed our usual activities of hiking, canoeing, tennis, etc. we really needed the time to catch up on a little R and R.
We shared the cabin with Kim and Gary this year! We had a blast getting spend more time with them. Can't wait til next year.

One of our favorite parts of the trip is enjoying the beautiful view from our cabin and the amazing sound of the flowing river. Rex enjoys all the squirrels that taunt him day and night!

And, we love the quiet walks along the river! What a beautiful place... God is good!

Friendship

Chris and I have been blessed with some of the most amazing friends in the world. They have been with us, and continue to be, through thick and thin. They are people we know we can count on and trust. Thanks for teaching me so much about what being a true friend means!
So, when our friend Chris hit the big 30 this week and we wouldn't of missed celebrating with him. Thanks so much for having a birthday, we had a blast!

Febrary is flying by...

and what fun we have had! With busy season in full swing, Chris and I must make time to spend together whenever possible. We have a few years of this under our belt now and are fully aware of the expectations... but every year there is something new.

Earlier this month I experienced my first NBA game. Chris's company took us to the Mav's game and we enjoyed watching it from the suite. We had a great time and who knows, maybe one day I will be a fan of the sport!

And then there was Valentine's Day! It is hard to believe that it has been 6 years since my fabulous, incredibly handsome husband proposed.

This year we decided to stay in and cook a romantic dinner together. It is kind of difficult to top an incredibly romantic proposal! The menu consisted of shrimp cocktails, a rack of lamb, and fondue for dessert. Chris sent a beautiful bouquet of flowers to work on Friday and once again I was reminded just how much I love him!

Look Out World!

After years of reading blogs of friends and family we have decided to jump in and join the blogging world! As I pondered about what I could possibly have to say, I decided there was no better way to start than by giving a review of 2008...

January 2008, we rang in the New Year with friends, family, and a couple of dogs!

February was a slow month, but we did make our annual trip down to Houston to celebrate our sweet niece's 5th birthday.

March held a little bit more excitement! Chris and his brother, Chad, made a trip to Orlando, Florida to celebrate Chad's birthday.

and... we made our annual trip to Beavers Bend, OK to "camp" with our amazing friends from church. We so look forward to this trip! I can't wait for 2009... just a little over 2 months to go!

Let me introduce our lap dog, Rex. It appears he is a little afraid of the camp fire. Rex loves Beavers Bend just as much as the rest of us!

The month of April belonged to Chris as he celebrated his 28th birthday. We celebrated with our annual birthday cookout

May is always a busy month! This year we celebrated as Courtney, Chris's sister, graduated with her masters from ACU.

June was quite a month! After the school year ended, I went to Washington D.C. with around 100 7th and 8th graders.

We then went on vacation to Cabo san Lucas. If you are looking for a vacation spot, this is the place to go!

July was truly an uneventful month!

In August Chris was informed that he was going to be promoted! We celebrated at The Old War... great food!

In 2009, we branched from our small group of 5 years and ventured out on our own. What an amazing blessing that has been. Our new little group is incredible and has had such an impact on our lives. Thank you for your friendships, love, prayers and support this year! You have all been a blessing!

So, September... we enjoyed a fun night with our group! Who doesn't love to bowl?

... apparently not Kim!

October is my birthday month and we danced the night away!

November marked our 5th year of marriage. I love you, Honey! He surprised me with a romantic night at The W and dinner at Hibiscus.

Can you believe that was 5 years ago... Boy, how time flies!

And, finally December! Christmas was with Chris's family this year. Christmas Eve we attended a beautiful candle light service at church and then returned home to eat and open presents. What a fun night!

Even Rex got in the holiday spirit!

So, what will 2009 hold? I can't wait to find out!
