A Walk in the Park!

So, as I had mentioned in my last post, Riley really likes going to the park now that it is warmer and we can enjoy our walks in the neighborhood and local parks. Here are a few pictures and a video from our first couple of trips.

First trip to the park

Swinging with Daddy...not sure what to think!

Fun with Mom

See what I mean about the slide...just not impressed!

He's getting a hold of this swinging thing...now he seems to really enjoy it.

7 Months Old!

Riley Alan is 7 months old!!! He is beautiful and fun and such a blessing to our lives.
He is almost sitting up by himself. He will still tumble after a short while, but he is getting it! He loves all the new foods we are trying...I still think avocado is his favorite. While he will eat them, the newest addition, peas, doesn't appear to be his favorite. Nor are carrots! He is starting to take more interest in his sippy cup, but has really taken to drinking out of the regular glass. While sometimes a little messy, it is really cute!
He enjoys his swimming class and is becoming more active in the water. Today he tried to put his face in the water a few times. I can't tell if he just likes the taste of the salty water or if he is ready to take a dunk! Each night before he goes to sleep we read and sing, which seams to calm him right down. And, finally, he is sleeping all the way through!!! I am putting him down around 7:30 and haven't been hearing from him until 7:30 or 8 the next morning. I can't complain because he has been sleeping from 11:00 to 8-8:30 since around 8 weeks of age, but it is nice to be done with the late night feed!
Since the weather has been warmer we have been able to get out and about more. He enjoys our trips to the park and likes to swing. He is not so impressed with the slide! Not that he doesn't like it, he just really isn't excited about it.
Unfortunately, since we don't go back to the doctor until his 9 month check up I am not sure how much he has grown. I may have to get an estimate on our home scales and tape measure and update.
Anyway, we are so proud of our little man and all the progress he is making! We love you, baby boy!

Mmmm!

Just cracks me up that he "Mmms" after each bite. So cute! I think he really likes avocado, what do you think?

So Many Firsts!

Gimme, Gimme, Dad!

Riley is super interested in what we are putting in our mouth while eating...just couldn't resist sharing this picture. It is almost painful to eat with him on our lap because he wants what we are eating so bad. He is super excited about a sippy cup too. He reaches for it and even grabs on to it with both hands...super cute. He loves to drink water from our cup too. He is just into everything!

We visited the Doctor for his six month appointment today.

Six Month Stats:
Weight - 18 lbs. 7.6 oz. - 75%
Height - 27 inches - 75%
Head Circumference - 43.1 cm - 25-50%

He is a big and growing boy and just so fun! After having some tummy issues after eating rice cereal for a few days we decided to try avocado after advice from a neighbor. Let me just say, he loved it!

We had a great weekend playing with Riley's cousins too! We went to Houston to celebrate Abbey's 8th birthday and they stayed the night Saturday. What fun it was to spend this special time with Abbey and Cole. We so enjoyed watching them play with Riley...so sweet!

Story Time with Daddy

Sweet story time with Riley and cousin Cole while in Houston for the weekend!

He was so worn out that I think Riley was asleep before his head hit the pillow...so to speak.

6 Months Old!

I feel like I say this every month, but how is this possilbe? Really? Riley was born half a year ago? Wow! I will be planning his first birthday party before we know it.

These past six months have been some of the most incredible months of my life. Riley is everything I dreamed of and so much more. Riley is working really hard to sit up and almost has it mastered. He has started eating Rice cereal and is doing very well. I guess we will try some orange vegetables in the next few days. I imagine there will be a few post worthy pictures from that feeding! He finally rolled over but still only likes to go from back to tummy and not vice-versa. This means I can barely keep him off his stomach when he sleeps...talk about giving Mommy a heart attack. What can you do?

Riley loves his swimming class that he is apart of every Tuesday. He is the splasher of the class...such a boy! He loves going to music class every Wednesday. Throughout the week we sing and dance together and it just warms my heart to see his big smile and hear his little chuckle of enjoyment. So fun!

We will go to the doctor next week for his 6 months checkup and I can't wait to see how much he has grown. If I were to take a guess, I would think he would be rounding out 18 or 19lbs. since he weighted 17lbs, 10oz at 5 months. Will definitely update after our appointment.

So, with half a year of parenthood down I have to say I love it! I love being a mommy and especially being able to stay home with my little guy. He brings a smile to my face everyday and I truly believe I have the best job in the world!

I had to add these pictures. As Riley gets more and more active, he is making it more and more difficult to capture a picture. I love that this month he was interested in the Koala and immediately dove for it. So cute!

Rolling Over!

Well, this has been a week of firsts! Earlier this week Riley had his first taste of rice cereal and, surprisingly, he did very well.

And, then today Riley FINALLY rolled over! He is still not interested in rolling from his tummy to his back, but he has been working on going from back to tummy for quite a while. I almost missed catching it on video, but caught the end and a few pictures leading up to it.

"Are you watching, Mom?"

"Here I go!"

Yay, baby!!!
